CLEVELAND — The 2024 Cleveland Marathon arrives next month -- and 3News was given a special first look at this year's medals during a live interview on GO! Thursday morning.
The Cleveland Marathon race weekend, which features a full marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K, as well as a challenge series, will take place May 18-19.
"We are really excited... It's a great event that brings everyone together in the city," said Cleveland Marathon Director of Running Services and Communications Joan Freese.
This year's medal features a classic look that can be added to a runner's collection.
"We try to incorporate all of the landmarks that you see as your running along the route, including the bridges. We included the Cleveland script sign," said Freese.
The Cleveland Marathon has a medal for each distance, and all participants running in the race will get one. Below is what you can expect the medal to look like for full marathon finishers:
This year's course is the same as last year, but includes new tweaks in Public Square. Freese said that the course will go through iconic neighborhoods, including Tremont, Ohio City and Edgewater. In addition, runners will get to see iconic landmarks such as Cleveland Browns Stadium and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
