CLEVELAND — A 61-year-old woman was fatally shot in Cleveland on Wednesday after an altercation at an apartment complex.
According to Cleveland police, the woman was found in the property manager's office with a gunshot wound to her chest at 12700 Shaker Boulevard in Cleveland.
She was transported to the hospital in critical condition according to EMS officials, with Cleveland police later confirming that she had died.
Cleveland police say that a 66-year-old woman, a 47-year-old woman and a 24-year-old woman have all been arrested in connection to the shooting.
According to preliminary information, there was a "verbal physical altercation inside and near the property manager’s office" regarding the 66-year-old suspect being evicted.
The physical altercation continued when the 61-year-old victim and a 57-year-old man tried to intervene. The 24-year-old suspect began punching the 61-year-old woman, who was swinging a knife. The victim allegedly cut the 47-year-old suspect and 24-year-old suspect.
Eventually, the 24-year-old woman began firing rounds in the direction of the victims. The 57-year-old man was not injured during the incident.
Cleveland Police say that further information revealed that all three of the suspects were related.
