CLEVELAND — Police in Cleveland confirm they are investigating multiple shootings that left three people dead and two others hurt this past weekend.
The bloodshed began late Friday afternoon, when two men — since identified as 42-year-old Shauntee McCoy and 65-year-old Clinton Davis — were found shot to death at the Crestview Estates in Old Brooklyn. Neighbors told authorities they heard the two arguing, and at this time officials believe the pair shot one another. However, the matter remains under investigation.
The next day, at around 6:20 p.m., officers found 29-year-old Javon Davis lying dead on the ground near East 156th Street and Damon Avenue. He had been shot multiple times, and witnesses told police he had been driving in the area with a dark-colored SUV following him when someone in the SUV fired at his vehicle. Davis then left his car and collapsed, and no suspects have been named at this time.
There were two other apparent shootings that took place Saturday night:
- 7:45 p.m.: A 35-year-old man was shot in the foot within the 4100 block of East 99th Street, but did not go to the hospital
- 10:31 p.m.: A 30-year-old man arrived at Cleveland Clinic Euclid Hospital saying he had been shot several times in his left leg while near the intersection of East 155th Street and St. Clair Avenue
In addition, 44-year-old Antonio Castrero died Friday at MetroHealth Medical Center two days after being shot outside Rite Shop Food Mart in Ohio City. An unnamed 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with the homicide, with witnesses saying the suspect was arguing with Castrero when he punched the victim in the face and shot him (NOTE: Cleveland police initially said the person shot was 30 years old).
Also on Sunday, a 36-year-old woman died and two others were injured following a two-car crash on Interstate 90 east near East 98th Street, with officials pledging to release more information "when it becomes available." That afternoon, a 68-year-old woman was also found dead inside a West 71st street home due to an apparent drug overdose.
These incidents remain under investigation, and those with information are asked to immediately call the Cleveland Division of Police at (216) 623-5464. In addition, Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County is offering a $5,000 reward for info on the killing of Javon Davis, with their phone number being (216) 252-7463.
