CLEVELAND — Cleveland police have confirmed that four people are dead and an 8-year-old girl remains in the hospital following a shooting at a home in Cleveland's Brooklyn Centre neighborhood on Friday night.
Officials say the incident took place at 3719 Mack Court and that a 41-year-old man is in custody.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victims as 69-year-old Miguel Gonzalez, 48-year-old Anthony Boothe, 34-year-old Angelic Gonzalez and her son, 16-year-old Jayden Baez.
The suspect has been identified as 41-year-old Martin Muniz, the son of the 69-year-old victim and the brother of the 34-year-old victim.
Muniz is being charged with aggravated murder according to the Cleveland Municipal Court.
Cleveland Police were flagged down initially by Muniz, who indicated that five victims had been shot.
As of Sunday afternoon, the 8-year-old girl remains in the hospital.
Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia also says the appears to be a domestic violence incident and that the suspect and victims are related, adding on behalf of the department, "Our hearts go out to the family."
City Hall also confirms Mayor Justin M. Bibb was at the scene with officers. An aide to the mayor says he briefly spoke with family members.
“This has been a painful week as we face the devastation caused by another horrific act of gun violence in our city. Tonight’s incident is particularly tragic as it took place at home, a place where a family should feel safe and secure," said Mayor Bibb.
"My prayers are with the victims and their family, friends and neighbors as they navigate a tragic situation. I am also grateful to the responding officers for rendering aid, securing the neighborhood, and quickly apprehending the suspect."

On Saturday, a joint statement was released from City of Cleveland Councilwoman Jasmin Santana and Council President Blaine A. Griffin on shooting, "Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the victims. We thank the fast action of our law enforcement officers and the community in apprehending the suspect allegedly responsible for this horrible crime. The Cleveland Division of Police will continue to update the community with more information as it becomes available."
