CLEVELAND — Cleveland Police have arrested one man in connection with a deadly shooting Wednesday on the city’s West Side.
They did not identify the suspect but said in a statement he is one of two men connected to the killing of a 30-year-old man outside the First Class Barber Shop at West 51st Street and Clark Avenue.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Anthony Parra of Warrensville Heights.
People flagged down police around 4:45 pm on Wednesday. Officers quickly identified one suspect at the scene and arrested him, according to a statement by police.
Detectives investigating the murder visited Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson house Wednesday around 8:30 pm. There, they took into custody a juvenile, who was later questioned and released to a parent. Police also towed a vehicle they believe is connected to the crime.
A witness told Channel 3 on Thursday that the victim was leaving a thrift store next door before he was shot. A police report says the shooters fired multiple rounds.
Channel 3 contacted Jackson’s office to ask if the mayor is related to the juvenile taken into custody, and how the truck towed from his house relates to the investigation.
His communications staff, including his top aid Valarie McCall, declined to comment on the case or discuss the mayor’s efforts to reduce violence in the city.
