Bodycam video: Cleveland officers rescue baby from car, arrest dad inside JACK Casino

Kyle Miller, 27, was charged with misdemeanor child endangerment.

CLEVELAND — It started with a 911 call in late April.

"We're on the fourth floor parking garage for JACK Casino and there's a baby in the car parked right next to us with no adults in it," said the caller.

Cleveland police say the baby's father, 27-year-old Kyle Miller, of Elyria, was inside gambling, and was totally unaware that help was on the way for his 10-month-old baby girl.

Body camera video from Cleveland police shows officers greeting the Good Samaritans who stayed with the baby. It also showed that blankets were taped to the backseat windows of Miller's car.

"Oh my god look how beautiful she is," one witness said of seeing the baby in the car.

Cleveland EMS and more officers arrived on the scene and the baby was rescued from the car.

"You look tired. You don't know who I am, and you don't care who I am except for being held," an EMT said to the baby.

Meanwhile, the officers headed inside the casino to track down the dad.

One officer can be heard noting the time the dad got to the casino.

"8:10 p.m., the vehicle's been parked there," he said.

At the time the officer noted the time, it was 10:54 p.m., meaning the baby had been alone for hours. Officers found the dad and his friend.

"Hey!"... "Put your hands behind your back!" They shouted. "Who's the father of the baby?"

Miller was handcuffed. He was then delivered a stern dose of reality:

"You're under arrest right now for child endangerment. What were you thinking leaving a baby in a car while you go to the casino?" the officer asked him.

Miller's daughter was taken to University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children's to get checked out. She was later released to family members.

Miller was charged with misdemeanor child endangerment in Cleveland Municipal Court. He pled not guilty back in April and posted a $15,000 bond. His felony charges of tampering with evidence were dropped. He'll appear in court again on June 17.
