Bodycam video of riot at Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center released

The video shows pure destruction by the teenagers in the detention center until SWAT showed up.

Body camera video from the riot from inside the Cuyahoga County Detention Center earlier this month was released on Friday.

Six people have been charged for the Jan. 8 resident riot. The charges range from aggravated rioting to inciting violence, vandalism and disorderly conduct.

One juvenile is charged with four counts of aggravated menacing for attempting to stab one of the jail guards with a piece of glass. Two of the teens are charged with attempting to escape for breaking a window and attempting to flee.

The video shows the teens pounding windows and the wall with objects trying to shatter the glass. The teens also damaged ceiling tiles, showers, cell doors and light fixtures.

It seemed like the kids were putting on a show for the responding sheriff's deputies. Initially when authorities arrived, there weren't enough officers to keep the situation under control, but when SWAT showed up, the video shows that they went to work.

They sawed a hole in a glass partition to communicate with the kids. There was very little talking after that, just orders given before SWAT moved in.

The incident caused roughly $200,000 worth of damage.
