Cool off in Northeast Ohio | Where to find cooling centers in Northeast Ohio

City residents will have an extended opportunity to cool off at the Zelma George, Collinwood, Gunning and several other recreation centers on Tuesday.

CLEVELAND — With temperatures expected to soar into the low to mid 90s this week, the city of Cleveland has announced extended hours of operation for several recreation centers.

On Tuesday, the following city recreation centers will operate from 11:30 a.m. through 10 p.m.:

  • Zelma George Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Center: 3155 Martin L. King Blvd.
  • Collinwood Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Center: 16300 Lakeshore Blvd.
  • Gunning Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Center: 16700 Puritas Ave.
  • Kovacic Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Center: 6250 St. Clair Ave.
  • Michael Zone Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Center: 6301 Lorain Ave.
  • Frederick Douglass Neighborhood Resource & Recreation Center: 15401 Miles Ave.

Regular scheduled programs will continue without interruption at each recreation center, however each will have a designated area for those who only want an indoor place to cool off. 

Akron

Community centers in the city of Akron will operate under normal hours on Tuesday, but will function as cooling centers for those in need. Click HERE for a list of community centers to see their hours of operation.
