CLEVELAND — The city of Cleveland is inviting residents to take part in a conversation about its plans for the future of the city's lakefront.
Mayor Justin Bibb announced last week that his administration would hold a "Lakefront Future Forum" on Mall C on Lakeside Avenue on Monday from 4-7 p.m. Mall C is located next to City Hall.
According to a city press release, the forum will include a panel discussion with government officials and community leaders as well as "interactive stations where attendees can provide input on the North Coast Connector and North Coast Master Plan." A live band, food trucks and free ice cream will also be provided.
“Community engagement is the driving force of this project, and we look forward to continuing the conversation with residents and stakeholders," Bibb said. “This event is about coming together, celebrating our progress and further refining our collective vision for a more accessible, vibrant and sustainable lakefront.”
The panel discussion will begin at 4:30 p.m. with introductory remarks by Debbie Berry, deputy chief of integrated development for Cuyahoga County. At the panel the city will present its latest recommendations for its proposed North Coast Connector pedestrian land bridge between the lakefront and Mall C.
“Cleveland's lakefront has been inaccessible to Clevelanders for decades,” said mayoral staffer Keshia Johnson Chambers. “The North Coast Connector – a reimagining of OH-2, a pedestrian bridge, and a new transit station – is a critical piece of enabling infrastructure that will unlock Cleveland's lakefront for both public access and economic development opportunities.”
The following are expected to feature on the panel:
- Joyce Pan Huang, Director of City Planning, City of Cleveland
- Keshia Johnson Chambers, Assistant Director, Mayor’s Office of Capital Projects, City of Cleveland
- Scott Skinner, Executive Director, North Coast Waterfront Development Authority
- Mordecai Cargill, Co-Founder and Creative Director, ThirdSpace Action Lab
The mayor's office says residents are encouraged to carpool, bike, walk or take the RTA to the forum. To register to attend the forum, click here.
