CLEVELAND — Editor's note: Video in the player above features extended Veterans Day coverage.
As heavy rain moves through Northeast Ohio, officials tell 3News they’ve decided to cancel Friday’s Veterans Day parade in Cleveland.
The parade was set to begin at 12:30 p.m. with 52 participating organizations, including police, fire, EMS, local sports teams and more.
The one-hour parade route would have taken the parade from Lakeside Avenue toward City Hall, East 9th Street, Superior and into Public Square.
Although the parade has been canceled, organizers say the 11 a.m. Veterans Day Ceremony at Cleveland City Hall and the Resource Fair at Public Auditorium will proceed as scheduled. The Resource Fair runs until 3 p.m. “to assist our veterans in the many services available to our veteran community, including free flu and booster shots.” Box lunches are also being provided to the veterans who attend the Resource Fair.
Members of the general public are encouraged to attend so they can show their support for the veteran community.
