CLEVELAND — On this Veterans Day at Cheers Restaurant and Lounge, it's a family affair. Especially, for Vietnam War veteran and loyal customer, Jeffrey Crow.
"Yes, everybody here I know by first name," Crow said.
Crow called 3News on Friday morning. He wanted to show us how Cheers loves and respects its vets by serving them hot meals every year.
"It's a beautiful thing and it's a blessing," Crow said.
Owner Tamone Calloway says it's an honor to feed local heroes.
"I do this everyday for the veterans because, you know, they serves our country. You have to give back and show some love to the people who keep us safe," Calloway said.
Manager Denise Crisp agreed.
"It's just so wonderful, because these men and women sacrificed their lives for us, and for us to just give back a little bit, it's the least that we can do ... and it warms our hearts to be able to do it for them."
There was a blessing before lunchtime, but it wasn't just for the food, it was for the sacrifice.
"I'm letting you know, stay strong," Vietnam War veteran Rudy Thompson of his fellow veterans. "That you're not being forgotten."
It's also about the honor.
"If they wanted me to go back and fight another war, I'd go back because I love America!" said Vietnam War veteran Robert Rawls.
Most importantly, it's about the gratitude.
"Our people, our customers, they've supported us for years and years, and we just try to give back in any way that we can," said Cheers caterer Candice Johnson.
