CLEVELAND — The city of Cleveland was illuminated in blue overnight to honor fallen police detective James Skernivitz.
The blue lights, which you can spot on downtown’s Terminal Tower, will continue each night through Sunday, Sept. 13.
Skernivitz was shot and killed last week while on duty in the area of West 65th Street and Storer Avenue.
Calling hours will take place from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at A. Ripepi and Sons Funeral Home in Middleburg Heights. His funeral will be held at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse at 10 a.m. Friday. It was originally scheduled to take place at the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist, but was moved to the arena to make more space for proper social distancing.
Authorities announced Tuesday that three teens have been charged in his death. The oldest suspect, 18-year-old David McDaniel, is being held on a $3 million bond.
