CLEVELAND — Cleveland Clinic continues to be one of the world's finest providers of health care. According to Newsweek's ranking of the 'World's Best Hospitals" for 2022, Cleveland Clinic came in at No. 2.
For the study, Newsweek says it looked over 2,200 hospitals in 27 countries. The rankings are based on the following data sources:
- Online surveys of more than 80,0000 medical experts from around the world.
- Results from publicly available patient experience surveys.
- Medical key performance indicators, including patient safety, infection prevention measures, and doctor-to-patient ratios.
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital and Cleveland Clinic Florida all also ranked in the top 250 in the world. Six Cleveland Clinic hospitals ranked among the top in the United States:
- Cleveland Clinic – No. 2
- Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital – No. 38
- Cleveland Clinic Florida-Weston – No. 45
- Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital – No. 86
- Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital – No. 125
- Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital – No. 312
“(W)hat has set the world’s leading hospitals apart is their continued ability to deliver the highest-quality patient care and conduct critical medical research even as they focused on battling COVID,” said Newsweek Global Editor in Chief Nancy Cooper. “Indeed, as the fourth annual ranking of the World’s Best Hospitals by Newsweek and Statista shows, consistency in excellence is the hallmark of these institutions."
Here is Newsweek’s top 5 for best hospitals worldwide:
- Mayo Clinic - Rochester, MN
- Cleveland Clinic - Cleveland, OH
- Massachusetts General Hospital - Boston, MA

Cleveland Clinic ranked among the world’s best in all 10 Newsweek categories — cardiac surgery, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics and pulmonology. Cleveland Clinic is also one of the top hospitals in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report.
