Applications opened for Cleveland Community Police Commission

Nine spots are currently open to applicants for the terms beginning in December 2024.

CLEVELAND — The office of Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb announced on Monday that applications for the Cleveland Community Police Commission are now open.

From now until Friday, Sept. 6, prospective applicants can apply to be one of 13 total members of the commission. Nine spots are currently open to applicants for the terms beginning in Dec. 2024. 

The following is a description of the role as outlined on the official application website

"The Commission is responsible for responding to community needs and concerns regarding regulation of the City’s Division of Police and community-police relations. All applicants should closely review Charter Section 115-5—which outlines the powers, duties, and responsibilities of the Commission. It also clarifies the specific eligibility criteria to serve on the Commission."

According to the website, there are three ways to apply for a position in the commission:

  • Apply online
  • Hand delivery: Download the application located HERE and deliver the finished papers to Cleveland City Hall (601 Lakeside Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44114), between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
  • U.S. Mail: Download the application located HERE and mail to address located below postmarked on or before September 6
