Cleveland councilwoman Mamie Mitchell has announced her plans to step down from city council amid her retirement.
City council made the announcement in a news release issued Monday.
Mitchell served nine years on Cleveland city council, representing the east side neighborhoods of Fairfax, Larchmere, Little Italy, University Circle, Woodland Hills and portions of Buckeye-Shaker, Slavic Village and Union-Miles.
Mitchell's replacement will be announced during the Committee of the Whole meeting at noon.
