CLEVELAND — A woman has been arrested for alleged OVI after crashing into a vehicle on I-71 in Cleveland during an overnight traffic stop.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the incident began around 1:11 a.m. Tuesday when a trooper initiated a traffic stop on I-71 North near the Denison Avenue exit in Cleveland.
While pulled over to the far right side, authorities say a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado was parked behind the trooper.
That's when a 2018 Chevrolet Trax that was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed struck the Silverado in the rear.
Video from the incident, which was caught on the Ohio Department of Transportation's traffic camera, can be viewed below:
The driver of the Trax, identified as a 31-year-old woman from Shaker Heights, was arrested for an OVI and issued a citation for assured clear distance ahead, OVI, high test OVI and driving with a suspended license. OSHP officials say that she was found to be impaired with a 0.170% BAC.
In addition, authorities say she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. She had minor injuries, which were treated on the scene.
The driver of the Silverado, a 63-year-old Parma man, had minor injuries as a result of the crash and was taken to a local hospital.
At this time, the crash remains under investigation.
