CLEVELAND — If you’re planning to park in downtown Cleveland anytime soon, you can keep that loose change at home as the city has officially launched the new ParkMobile digital parking system.
“With this new system, users can digitally pay for parking by entering the zone number posted nearby directly into the ParkMobile app or their mobile web browser,” city officials explain in a press release. “Non-smartphone users can also utilize ParkMobile by calling their interactive voice response service.”
The new option also allows users the ability to extend their parking period through the app, giving them more time to explore the city without needing to return to a meter.
“This extended stay option aims to boost revenue for Cleveland business owners and operators,” city officials said.
Here’s how ParkMobile works…
Users can pay for parking through the ParkMobile app or site by entering the zone number or scanning the QR code found on the signs located within your parking space. Then, choose the duration of the time you wish to park and tap the “start parking” button. You’ll get an alert when your parking time is about to expire.

Cleveland city officials say this launch will phase out approximately 2,500 coin-based parking meters.
"Our goal is to provide cities with a parking solution that will improve curb management and mobility flow to create more livable urban environments,” explains David Hoyt, Managing Director of ParkMobile. “Now, with the availability of our app, Cleveland residents and visitors can enjoy a seamless journey, while managing their parking payment right from their mobile devices."
Here in Ohio, ParkMobile currently serves more than one million users.
