CLEVELAND — A man is dead after his wife "accidentally shot" him in their Cleveland home.
At approximately 3:08 p.m. on February 19, officers responded to a residence on the 12000 block of McGowan Avenue after receiving a call about a man who had been shot.
When officers and Cleveland EMS arrived to the scene, they observed a woman attempting to administer aid to the man who had been shot. Members of Cleveland EMS were unable to revive the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Benjamin Irizarry.
Cleveland police launched an investigation shortly after their arrival. According the man's wife, she shot her husband "accidentally while clearing a firearm".
No additional details have been revealed at this time. The incident remains under investigation by the Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit.
