CLEVELAND — A Cleveland father was arrested Saturday after police found an infant girl alone inside a car in a parking garage while her father was allegedly inside a nearby casino.
The 27-year-old man was not formally charged as the incident remains under investigation, according to a Cleveland Division of Police spokesperson. Police arrested him on suspicion of child endangerment and permitting child abuse.
At around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, police responded to reports of a child left unattended inside a car in a parking garage located at 2151 Ontario Street. They found a 10-month-old girl alone in the car.
According to Cleveland police, the initial investigation revealed that the father had left the child in the vehicle while he was inside the JACK Cleveland Casino. Police did not reveal how long the child had allegedly been alone in the car by the time officers arrived.
Police said the child did not appear to have any injuries, but she was tended to by EMS and transported to a hospital for a "precautionary checkup" before releasing her to her family.
