CLEVELAND — Crews closed a portion of East 55th Street in Cleveland early Thursday morning due to an overnight fire at a building on Lake Court.
3News' Austin Love reported live from the scene all morning where the flames have since been extinguished.
We're told 11 fire companies responded to the incident. While nobody was hurt, the building's roof reportedly collapsed.
Lt. Mike Norman of the Cleveland Fire Department told 3News it was a “tricky spot to fight a fire” because of the nearby train tracks.
The building is home to a commercial linen company known as The Clean Group. Their site says it's a company founded by former Cleveland Browns player Joe Jurevicius.
He sent us the following statement regarding the fire:
I'm saddened the livelihoods of ALL my employees will be disrupted for the foreseeable future. They've helped be build something that represented Cleveland and the businesses that call Northeast Ohio home. The efforts that they've put in appear to be gone and that stings. I know nothing more than to regroup and come back stronger but this hurts on so many levels.
Thank you to the Cleveland Fire Department, I appreciate all of you.
Joe Jurevicius
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
