CLEVELAND — A Cleveland firefighter was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center early Tuesday morning with a facial laceration as crews worked to battle flames at a vacant house on West 98th Street.
Fire officials tell 3News the firefighter’s injury is not life-threatening.
It was around 3:22 a.m. when firefighters responded to the scene to find a fully involved fire on the first floor of the 2-and-a-half story house.
“With no life hazard, we attacked the fire from the outside initially,” Cleveland Fire Lt. Mike Norman tells 3News in an e-mail. “Building is a total loss and demolition has been requested.”
A neighboring house has an estimated $1,000 in damages to vinyl siding, according to Lt. Norman.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
No additional details were immediately available.
