CLEVELAND — This. Is. So. Cool.
Fresh off his epic run with the Cleveland Guardians this season, outfielder Steven Kwan met fans while serving up some ice cream at Mason’s Creamery on Thursday night
Kwan is back in town after the Guardians finished the 2022 postseason Tuesday night with a loss to the New York Yankees in Game 5 of the American League Division Series.
"I'm just grateful for all the people that came out, showed support," Kwan told 3News' Stephanie Haney of the big crowds at Progressive Field during the playoffs. "It just makes me want to come back next year and win for the whole city of Cleveland."
Kwan's appearance Thursday was appropriate, as this afternoon he was named one of three finalists for the AL Gold Glove Award in left field. The Rookie of the Year candidate led all AL outfielders with 16 total zone runs on the season.
"Really grateful for that," Kwan said of his nomination. "There's obviously a lot of great left fielders, so just to be mentioned in that at all is a real honor."
Mason’s Creamery was featured in the national spotlight earlier this year when Guy Fieri brought his Food Network show – Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives – for a segment on the popular Cleveland spot known for its ice cream and ramen.
"I'm a sucker for mint chocolate chip," Kwan said when asked about his favorite ice cream flavor.
And in case you missed it, 3News' Isabel Lawrence talked with Kwan back at the start of the baseball season. You can watch that conversation in the video below.
