2022 Labor Day parade in Cleveland: Watch video of the full parade

Congresswoman Shontel Brown was this year's Grand Marshal. The parade's theme was 'Empowering Our People.'

CLEVELAND — Labor Day has arrived, which means it’s also time for the annual parade in Cleveland.

The 2022 parade, which included Congresswoman Shontel Brown as the Grand Marshal, began at 11 a.m. at E. 146th and Kinsman. It came to an end at Luke Easter Park at 3090 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive with a festival that included food, vendors, live music, dancing, games and more.

This year’s parade theme was “Empowering Our People” as the 11th Congressional District Community Caucus celebrates 50 years of community and political empowerment.

We streamed the entire parade live, which you can watch in full below:

“Since 1971, the Labor Day Parade and Festival concludes the summer in style, as families, seniors, young people, politicians, performers and members of community organizations join together for a day of fun,” organizers say.

The annual event first started as a small picnic after Carl Stokes was elected Mayor of Cleveland in 1967.

“The Labor Day Parade and Festival expanded from a picnic in 1971 when Congressman Louis Stokes, as representative for the district, instituted the tradition of holding an annual 11th Congressional District Caucus Parade and Picnic.”
