CLEVELAND — They’ve got the moves.

They’ve mastered the groove.

They move their feet to the rhythm of the beat.

The Murtis Taylor dancers are definitely getting their dance on as they gather to do something that brings them together every week: Line dancing.

The line dance class is led by none other than Robert Johnson Jr. -- who is known as Cleveland’s "Line Dance King." He’s been teaching and doing line dancing for more than three decades.

“Line dancing is a movement," he says. "Line dancing is a therapy. Line dancing is my therapist. We look out for each other, we pray for each other, we talk to each other, we stay in touch with each other.”

It’s more than dancing to good music as people love the positive energy in the room.

“I love the fact that there’s camaraderie,” says dancer Lenita Womack. “There’s an overall sisterhood with the ladies here, and also it’s an ability to actually be energetic, bounce back up from falls and actually just have fun.”

Even though the moves are choreographed for specific songs, each person has their own swagger.

“Just because you turn 65, doesn’t mean you got to sit at home and watch Young & The Restless and wait to die,” Johnson says.
