CLEVELAND — As Cleveland celebrates 50 years of progress since the infamous Cuyahoga River fire, the Cleveland Metroparks on Friday announced another stage of growth.
The Metroparks released plans to add 18 boat slips along the river at Rivergate and Heritage parks. The Metroparks were awarded more than $1.6 million from the Federal Boating Infrastructure Grant Program to aid construction costs, which are estimated at $2.2 million total.
Twelve of the day-use slips will be at Heritage Park on the West Bank of The Flats, while the other six will be at Rivergate Park on the East Bank of the Flats. The boat slips will be fully accessible to the public.
Construction is expected to be complete by 2021.
