Mayor Frank G. Jackson and Cleveland Metroparks CEO Brian Zimmerman also spoke.

"What you have in front of you is a history of over 120 years of baseball being played in this 132-acre park here in Brookside," Zimmerman said. "...It blows expectations away."

The renovated Talty Field will be used by the Cleveland Baseball Federation RBI teams, as well as for events for PLAY BALL, the Jr. Home Run Derby and more.

The junior boys teams from Gunning Park and Estabrook Recreation had the chance to play the first game on the new field following Monday's ceremony.
