CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police is investigating after a car crashed into a building in the Ohio City neighborhood on Thursday morning.
The incident happened at the restaurant Jaja, which is located near the intersection of Abbey Avenue and Lorain Avenue.
Several people told 3News that they had to be evacuated from their apartments at INTRO Cleveland above the restaurant. The residents have since returned.
According to an Instagram post from Jaja, the restaurant will be closed until further notice.
"While this has been an unexpected and challenging moment, we are grateful that our team and our neighbors at INTRO are safe," Jaja said in its post, adding that they were "look forward to welcoming you back as soon as possible."
Cleveland EMS told 3News that the 24-year-old driver was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Cleveland police told 3News that speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
