CLEVELAND — Cleveland police confirm one person is dead following a four-car crash on the Shoreway just east of downtown Friday evening.
Officials confirm the incident occurred on Interstate 90 east near East 55th Street. The wreck took place as drivers were traveling to Cleveland for the Billy Joel-Rod Stewart concert at Huntington Bank Field, along with Nicki Minaj's show at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and the Guardians game at Progressive Field.
The name of the victim, who died at the scene, has not been released at this time. It is unknown if anyone else was injured in the incident.
The crash forced authorities to close all but the far-left lane on the Shoreway, backing up traffic on I-90 through downtown back to I-77. The scene was cleared by 8:20 p.m.
