Cleveland police: 19-month-old baby shot on city's west side, man arrested

The infant was shot in the shoulder and taken to an area hospital. Cleveland police say the incident is 'possibly accidental.'

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police is investigating a shooting that wounded a 19-month-old child on the city's west side.

According to police, the incident happened in the 3100 block of West 31st Street. Officers say the infant sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder and was taken by EMS to a nearby hospital. 

Cleveland police told 3News that a 26-year-old man was arrested for failure to secure dangerous ordnance and child endangering.

As of Friday morning, the 19-month-old is in stable condition.
