Cleveland Police announce NYE parking ban, safety tips

No street parking in Warehouse District tonight from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police announced Monday afternoon the city's parking ban and safety tips ahead of New Year's Eve celebrations. 

The Warehouse District parking ban, normally implemented on weekends, will be in effect through New Year’s Eve. There will be NO PARKING on signed streets from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Violators will be subject to having their vehicles ticketed and towed. 

The department also provided three tips for celebrating safely. 

1. Celebrate Responsibly

The Division of Police are reminded people to celebrate responsibly. Those drinking should plan to have a designated driver, take public transportation or utilize ride share services. 

Cleveland Police partnered with Lyft in 2018 to provide discounted rides to encourage safety on New Year's eve. All user have to do is enter the code "RideSafeNYE2018."

The code is valid through January 1. 

2. What goes up must come down

The city is reminding people that it is not legal or appropriate to celebrate the new year by shooting a fire arm into the air. It is also illegal to light fireworks within the city of Cleveland.
