Multiple suspects arrested after Brinks employee shot, robbed at Cleveland ATM

The 65-year-old worker is in stable condition at this time. Officials say the suspects hit another car as they attempted to flee in their vehicle.

CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are investigating an aggravated robbery that occurred Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of East 105th Street and Saint Clair Avenue.

According to 911 calls obtained by 3News, the incident involved a Brinks employee at a Huntington Bank ATM in Glenville. Officers responded using the gunshot detection alert system known as ShotSpotter, and were aided by calls from people reporting that he was shot at approximately 1:30 p.m.

After arriving on scene, authorities learned that a 65-year-old man had been and transported to a local hospital.

"Looks like the Brinks truck was driving off as someone was chasing it," an officer said to dispatch.

"(There were) two employees in a Brinks truck," another officer stated over the radio. "(We) believe so far one of them was struck and they pulled off probably en route to a hospital somewhere, and one of the people in this plaza heard two shots fired."

Cleveland police say four men approached the victim attempting to rob him before shots were fired, hitting the man. The suspects left the scene, and law enforcement began searching the area for a black Dodge Durango

"(The) Dodge Durango … that I can see, was eastbound on St. Clair crossing Eddy occupied with multiple males," an officer told dispatch.

Officers say they tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop, and eventually hit another motorist. Three of the four suspects were then arrested and a gun was recovered from the vehicle, per authorities.

Police say the shooting victim appears to be in stable condition.
