Cleveland Police have confirmed from the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office that the body found on Sunday has been identified as 14-year-old Alianna DeFreeze.
Her body was found at 9412 Fuller Avenue on Cleveland's East Side.
Authorities now want answers, and there is a reward of $22,500 for information in the case.
Defreeze was last seen Thursday morning at 6:52 a.m. getting off an RTA bus at the corner of East 93rd and Kinsman. She was supposed to board a second bus but never did.
Video shows her walking in the direction of a McDonald’s, however it is unclear what happened when she left the frame.
Police say they’re working with the FBI and other law enforcement agencies to sweep the neighborhood and talking with residents in the area.
Officials are hoping that someone knows, heard or saw something in the area of 93rd and Kinsman.
The Police report narrative indicates Alianna’s mom only discovered she was missing when she called the child’s school to cancel a scheduled parent/teacher conference around 4:15 p.m. Thursday, almost 10 hours after she put her child on the bus to school.
The report goes on to indicate an officer went to Alianna’s prep school and spoke with the principal who told police the message was not delivered to parents earlier because of a ‘software malfunction.’
The family of Alianna plans to hold a vigil Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at 93rd and Kinsman, the place she was last seen on video.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police homicide investigators at 216-623-5464 or to call 9-1-1.
