CLEVELAND — Two members of the Cleveland Division of Police are facing disciplinary action. An officer and a recruit were suspended Wednesday for two separate incidents.
Patrol Officer John Hawk, 40, was suspended after being charged with felonious assault. He will remain suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
The details surrounding the incident the charge stems from has not yet been released.
Hawk joined the force in 2018 and had most recently served the fourth district.
In addition to Hawk's suspension, recruit Joseph Patterson was also disciplined Wednesday.
Patterson, 24, has been charged with gross sexual imposition. He was arrested by University Heights Police after a woman reported that she was sexually assaulted by him on February 29.
Patterson was hired by Cleveland Police in August of 2019.
He has also been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
He is expected to be charged Thursday.
Both announcements were made by Director of Public Safety, Michael McGrath and Cleveland Police Chief Calvin D. Williams.
