Cleveland Police searching for man wanted in 'violent assault' of 17-year-old at gas station

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Police Department is seeking the public's help locating a man wanted in the "violent assault" of a 17-year-old girl at a gas station on September 26. 

According to the victim's mother, who reported the assault, her daughter was inside a Gas USA on East 123rd Street when she was hit on by the suspect. The victim turned the suspect down and as a result was struck in the face with a corned beef sandwich before he pushed her to the ground. The two then became involved in a physical altercation with the suspect throwing the teenager on the ground and kicking, stomping on her in the face until she lost consciousness. 

When the teen regained consciousness, her purse was gone. 

The suspect has been identified as 33-year-old Raymond Shepard. He is described as a 6'2 Black man weighing approximately 190 pounds. 

Anyone with any information on Shepard or his whereabouts is asked to contact investigators at 216-623-5518.
