The city of Cleveland is not just preparing to host the NBA All-Star Game next month, but a series of other related events. One of those will focus on the power of sport as a catalyst for change.
The Cleveland Power of Sport Summit, presented by KeyBank and FirstEnergy, will celebrate diversity, equity and inclusion in a free multi-day event at Cleveland Metropolitan Conference Center on East 9th Street.
The event will showcase local and national organizations who are utilizing their voices to address topics related to adaptive sports, gender equity, LGBTQIA+ athlete advocacy, mental health, racial equity and more.
Exhibits at the summit will include an interactive community art display hosted by the Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio, and "Champions of Change," a multi-sensory journey from Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality (RISE). There will also be panel discussions on Cleveland's history of sport and social justice and the 50-year history of Title IX. Click here for the full schedule of activities.
The Cleveland Power of Sport Summit will take place on the following days/hours:
- Friday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
- Saturday, Feb. 19 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
- Sunday, Feb. 20 from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m.
