CLEVELAND — The Cleveland St. Patrick's Day parade is back this Thursday after it was canceled for the last two years due to COVID concerns.
With large crowds of people expected in the city for the March 17 celebration, authorities hosted a press conference Wednesday morning with advice and tips for everybody heading into Cleveland.
These tips include:
- Arriving early is best. Increased traffic is anticipated to grow starting around 10:30 a.m.
- Crowds are expected to be very large since it's the first parade in two years coupled with nice weather conditions.
- Be aware of no parking zones. Vehicles in violation will be towed.
- If you see something, say something “whatever it might be.”
- RTA officials say St. Patrick's Day is traditionally their busiest day. To handle the increased ridership, RTA is operating three-car trains on the red line and two-car trains on the blue and green lines throughout the day. $5 roundtrip tickets are available.
- Plan with family for places to reunite should you become separated.
- Keep cell phones charged.
- Stay properly hydrated.
The press conference, which you can watch in full below, included members of the Cleveland Department of Public Safety, including police, fire, EMS, representatives from the Downtown Cleveland Alliance and Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority.
The 2022 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Cleveland steps off at 1:04 p.m. on Superior Avenue at East 18th Street. The route continues southwest along Superior Avenue to West Roadway where it will travel northwest for one block before concluding at the intersection of Rockwell and Ontario.
The luck of the Irish is also on our side when it comes to the weather forecast because we’re expecting quiet conditions with sunshine as highs climb well into the 60s.
