The Cleveland Police Department welcomed 34 new officers to the force during a swearing-in ceremony on Friday morning.
The 147th Cleveland Police Academy was sworn in as Mayor Frank Jackson administered the oath of office at an outdoor ceremony near City Hall.
"I want to congratulate 147, you completed the class, and it was a lot of hard work. But I also want to welcome you to public service and thank you for taking up the call, particularly as a police officer," said Mayor Frank Jackson during the ceremony. "Public service is an honorable profession, but it's not made for everyone...but those who are able to do it, and do it well have the greatest opportunity to impact the lives of individual families an communities."
The ceremony featured remarks from multiple city officials, including Cleveland City Council President Kevin Kelly, Police Chief Calvin Williams and Director of Public Safety Karrie Howard.
The new officers were also given the opportunity to thank their family, friends and supporters during the event. The Police Department shared video of the special moment on social media, that you can view below.
The Cleveland Police Department streamed the entire ceremony on the city's Facebook Page, which you can re-watch in the player below.
