Spring bucket list 2024: Best things to do in Cleveland

As the weather starts to get warmer, there are plenty of ways to enjoy Cleveland this spring, including the solar eclipse and Guardians games at Progressive Field.

CLEVELAND — Although it may not feel like it, spring is officially here! 

As the weather starts to get warmer, there are plenty of things to enjoy in Cleveland and add to your spring 2024 bucket list. 

This spring also features many rare opportunities, including the chance for residents to see the total solar eclipse or participate in the NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four festivities. 

Here are 10 things you need to check off your bucket list in Cleveland this spring: 

Watch the total solar eclipse 

On April 8, Northeast Ohio will be in the direct path of totality when the solar eclipse happens. Cleveland will have a front-row ticket to the solar eclipse as the moon passes between the sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the sun. Go to a Cleveland Guardians game 

Progressive Field is a must-visit location if you're in Cleveland during the spring. Click HERE to see when the Guardians will be in town for the 2024 season. Aside from watching a classic game of baseball, you'll have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the wide variety of food and drink options Progressive Field has to offer.

Attend the NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four

The best collegiate women's basketball players will be front and center in Cleveland as the city plays host to the NCAA Division I Basketball Final Four and Championship. The games are taking place on April 5 and 7, with plenty of opportunities for Clevelanders to attend free events leading up to the games, including a concert with Latto. 

Visit the cherry blossoms at University Circle

Each spring, the beautiful cherry blossoms and magnolias bloom along Wade Lagoon in University Circle. This year's peak bloom, when at least 70% of the blossoms are open, is expected in late March. You can track the spring blooms HERE

Celebrate Dyngus Day

Dyngus Day is set to return to Cleveland's Gordon Square Arts District on Monday, April 1, the day after easter. The Polish holiday celebrated the day after Easter will take place at Cleveland's Gordon Square Arts District. The day will be packed with authentic ethnic food, merch, beer and dancing. 


Explore the trails at Cleveland Metroparks

If you're looking to get some fresh air and exercise, Cleveland Metroparks has over 100 miles of all-purpose trails for walking, biking, running and in-line skating. Click HERE for a list of trails in Northeast Ohio. 

Go to the Geauga Maple Festival

The annual Geauga Maple Festival is taking place from Thursday, April 25, until Sunday, April 28. The festival has been around since 1926 and typically takes place the last full weekend of April with several events, including a baking contest, bathtub races, tug of war, kids tractor pull, pancakes in the park, a lumberjack competition, the sap run in one and five-mile versions and a parade.


Run the Cleveland Marathon

Thousands of runners will take to the streets on May 18 and 19 for the Cleveland Marathon race weekend. The event typically generates more than $15 million in economic impact. If running isn't your thing, you can still go to the course to cheer on the runners!

Visit Akron Zoo or Cleveland Metroparks Zoo

If you are looking for a fun, family friendly activity, the Akron Zoo or Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is the place to visit. Both zoos offer a variety of events for families during the spring season.

Visit a winery 

Springtime is the perfect opportunity to kick back and relax with a glass of wine. Northeast Ohio has plenty of beautiful vineyards. There are over 30 wineries in and around Geneva-on-the-Lake, which make for the perfect relaxing trip. A list of wineries can be found HERE.

Daffodil Hill 

Lake View Cemetery is home to Daffodil Hill, where thousands of visitors come each year. As of March 18, the daffodils have not yet bloomed.
