Cleveland's University Circle once again nominated for nation's best arts district in USA Today Readers' Choice poll

The iconic neighborhood took home top honors in 2021 before finishing No. 2 last year. Lake Erie is also nominated in various categories.

CLEVELAND — USA Today is once again asking its readers about some of the best entertainment spots in America, and one of Cleveland's premiere neighborhoods is getting some familiar recognition.

University Circle is once more among the nominees in the Readers' Choice survey for the nation's "10Best" arts districts. The iconic community, buoyed by Case Western Reserve University, previously took home top honors in 2021.

"University Circle packs a lot into just one square mile," USA Today wrote of the neighborhood. "Art lovers will find the Cleveland Institute of Art Reinberger Gallery, Cleveland Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art and the Sculpture Center, as well as several theaters, music halls and performing arts centers."

University Circle surrendered its championship crown last year, finishing second behind the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District in Minnesota. It currently sits No. 2 again this year, behind a location that is sure to spark a sense of rivalry among Clevelanders: The Pop District in Pittsburgh.

Readers can cast their votes up to once per day until June 12 at noon. In addition to University Circle, Lake Erie is also nominated in the following categories:

  • Best Lake
  • Best Lake for Swimming
  • Best Lake for Water Sports
