CLEVELAND -- The owner of the Yellow Cab Company of Cleveland confirms to WKYC that the company is closing its doors after 90 years of serving the Greater Cleveland area.

Owner Brian McBride confirmed the closing and any contracts that are active will be fulfilled.

According to its website, Yellow Cab operates in conjunction with Zone Cab, Westlake Cab and Express, to better service all of Cuyahoga County and surrounding counties with a fleet of over 120 cars and vans.

The final closing is expected within 60 days.

McBride confirmed that one of the reasons is not being able to hire drivers. He also confirmed that aging vehicles factored into the decision. He confirmed that the emergence of Uber and Lyft is not one of the reasons.
