CLEVELAND — Two men have died following an early morning accident that happened on I-71 South in Cleveland.
Authorities say the situation started around 12:05 a.m. Thursday when a semi pulled off to the side of I-71 because of a flat tire. Police say the truck "was stopped partially on the left berm and the left lane of Interstate 71."
“Three orange triangle warning placards were placed behind the trailer, and the semi truck and trailer’s hazard flashers were activated,” Cleveland police said in a press release.
Police say a Volkswagen Jetta later struck the right-rear corner of the semi’s trailer. Two men who were inside the Jetta were pronounced dead at the scene, including the 46-year-old driver and 34-year-old passenger. Police say the passenger was ejected from the vehicle.
Their names have not yet been released, and no additional details were immediately available.
