E. 185th Street apartment fire displaces 6 residents

CLEVELAND — Six people have been displaced after a fire at an apartment on E. 185th Street in Cleveland. 

According to officials with the Cleveland Division of Fire, the incident began around 8:50 p.m. when the department received a call about a blaze on the city's east side. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire in the second story apartment, located over a business.

Cleveland Fire officials say that six residents are currently being assisted by the American Red Cross and that no injuries were reported and no EMS transports required. 

At this time, it is believed that the blaze was accidental and was contained to one kitchen. Fire officials estimate that the total damage done comes out to around $40,000.  

No other information is available at this time.
