CLEVELAND — Cleveland fire crews are working to combat a large fire at a health center in the Hough neighborhood Wednesday night.
Officials confirm the blaze broke out at the Hough Health Center on Hough Avenue near East 83rd Street. The building serves as the main office for Northeast Ohio Neighborhood Health Services (NEON Health) and is an important health care provider in the community.
Authorities say the three-alarm fire started on the second floor around 9:24 p.m. and extended to the roof. While first responders are "making progress" in putting the flames out, search and rescue efforts are still under way and the scene is still "very active." So far, one firefighter has been treated for heat exhaustion.
