CLEVELAND — Lights! Camera! Action!
The “Genesis” production, which is rumored to be the new Superman movie directed by James Gunn, is set to shoot in Cleveland this summer – and now we’re learning more about the filming dates and casting information for extras.
In details released Tuesday morning, Angela Boehm Casting says Cleveland “shoot dates” are scheduled for June 17 – July 16. Filming is also expected in Cincinnati from July 17-18.

PAY SCALE
Background rate: $12 an hour with a guarantee of eight hours
“Filming days are often 12-14 hours long, but you will still be compensated if you are let out before eight hours,” according to the casting agency. “Overtime pay begins after eight hours.”
Stand-in rate: $13 an hour with a guarantee of eight hours
Those interested in stand-in work “must have extreme flexibility for these parts.” Angela Boehm Casting says the stand-ins will be working with our director and main cast.
“You must be professional and be willing to interview with production for this position if needed.”
ROLES FOR KIDS
“We do have several background roles for kids,” according to Angela Boehm Casting. “If your child is interested, please fill out a separate form for them.”
A parent or guardian is also required to be on set at all times.
IS "GENSIS" ACTUALLY "SUPERMAN"?
While speculation online indicates this could be the new Superman movie directed by James Gunn, those details have not been publicly confirmed.
3News previously asked the Greater Cleveland Film Commission if they could address the rumors, but the organization's president, Bill Garvey, said he can't disclose specifics surrounding the "Genesis" project.
Last year, meanwhile, Garvey also told 3News that "major movies" are bringing their productions to Cleveland.
“People are going to be happy,” he said back on Nov. 9. “Some iconic, major movies are coming.”
While official details surrounding the “Genesis” project have not been released, the Ohio Department of Development announced earlier this year that the film has been awarded with a tax credit worth $11,091,686.70.
And this latest update from Angela Boehm Casting also lists "Genesis" as "A Warner Brothers Feature Film."
In case you were wondering, the new Superman is currently slated for release on July 11, 2025.
