2-year-old girl hurt in Cleveland shooting taken to hospital in serious condition

Cleveland EMS confirms the girl was shot in the foot on Craven Avenue.

CLEVELAND — A 2-year-old girl was taken to the hospital in serious condition after being shot in the foot.

Cleveland EMS confirmed the details with 3News early Friday morning, reporting the girl was transported from a home on Craven Avenue to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.

Cleveland police say that a young male told a witness in the home's kitchen that a gun slipped and that he accidentally shot the child and ran out of the house.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Officials previously told 3News that the child was 3 years old. Cleveland police have now confirmed that the child is 2 years old.
