Fin Fest will take place from July 1 through August 6. The event will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event will put a spotlight on it's 230,000-gallon shark habitat and 175 foot seatube along with activities, talks from experts, opportunities to feed animals in the aquarium and more.

The event is not only to celebrate the often misunderstood sea-creatures, but to raise awareness about a rising issue globally as shark deaths continue to rise year by year.

“Sharks are disappearing at alarming rates, helping to build a broader appreciation for their diversity, importance and plight is important,” says GM Stephanie White.

The following list of activities that will be conducted during the month-plus of Fin Fest were provided in a press release from the Greater Cleveland Aquarium:

  • Four-page shark activity book
  • Daily shark discovery cart interactive programming
  • Appearances by Aquarium shark mascot Finn
  • Scuba diver shark talks
  • Aquarist shark feedings,
  • Daily stingray feeds
  • Crafts
  • Experiments with rotating array of community partners

Activities are included in the price of admission according to the aquarium.

General admission prices:

  • Ages 13+ - $19.95
  • Ages 2-12 - $13.95
  • Free for children 2 and under

“With more than one-third of all shark and ray species facing extinction, these animals could benefit from more informed, enthusiastic advocates,” says Curator Ray Popik.

The aquarium is also offering a chance to win a $125 gift shop certificate to a participant chosen who visits the event dressed in shark gear (shirt, shorts, socks, tie, cap, jacket or costume).
