CLEVELAND -- New video obtained exclusively by WKYC Channel 3 Investigator Tom Meyer shows yet another mob beating on Public Square during Saint Patrick's Day.

The video, which Cleveland Police refused to release, shows Clevelander Edward Cahalan getting sucker-punched twice and then attacked by a violent mob of young people, who delivered cheap shots and stomped on him and his girlfriend.

"I don't remember much of anything," Cahalan said. "My mouth was busted up. I remember being in the back of an ambulance with my eyebrow all stitched up."

The beating was one of several that day. RTA police recently arrested three of the assailants, using Facebook to help identify them.

The juveniles were charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated riot, kidnapping, felony assault, and assault.

Cleveland Police have been sharply criticized for not doing enough to investigate the unprovoked physical attacks, which Cleveland City Councilman Zack Reed called hate crimes.

All the assailants are black. All the victims are white.

"Incidents against individuals because of their race, their nationality, their gender, their religion, will not be tolerated," said Reed.

Cahalan said he was simply minding his own business outside the Horseshoe Casino when he asked someone for a light. The next thing he knew he was punched in the back for no reason. He says he was knocked unconscious.

"I asked my girlfriend, 'Did I say something wrong?' and she said, 'no they just started attacking you,'" he said.

Other videos show Andrew Pace knocked to the ground. He suffered a broken jaw.

Another victim was thrown from a bus platform, then stomped on by at least a dozen individuals.

Arrests were made in connection with the investigations involving Cahalan, Pace and an unidentified third victim.

City council members said they were shaken by the attacks, but not one hearing into the unprovoked assaults and the police investigation has been conducted.
