CLEVELAND — Jim Gaffigan is coming to Cleveland.
And he wants to try our local cuisine.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, the Beyond the Pale comedian inquired about the Polish Boy sandwich, which according to its Wikipedia page "consists of a link of kielbasa placed in a bun, and covered with a layer of french fries, a layer of barbecue sauce or hot sauce, and a layer of coleslaw." Taking his tweet at face value, Gaffigan would like to try his first Polish Boy when he brings "The Pale Tourist" show to the Wolstein Center on Friday.
In addition to asking for Cleveland's best Polish Boy, Gaffigan is also seeking the city's best emergency room.
"CLEVELAND- I’m interested in trying your 'healthy' sandwich named The Polish Boy," Gaffigan wrote. "Where do you suggest I purchase it in Cleveland? Do you recommend eating eat before or after my show at the Wolstien Center? Best Emergency room in Cleveland?"
Gaffigan's tweet isn't the Polish Boy's first run-in with pop culture. In 2010, celebrity chef -- and Cleveland native -- Michael Symon cited Seti's Polish Boys on the Food Network's "The Best Thing I Ever Ate." In 2018, Chef Gregby Camp of “Mickey Flickey’s Amazing Wings” taught the audience of The Wendy Williams Show how to make Polish Boys with his special spin of toasting the buns.
Taking to Twitter himself, Symon extended an invitation to Gaffigan to try the Polish Boy at Mabel's on E. 4th St.
Got any advice for Gaffigan? Hot Sauce Williams? Mabel's? Seti's? Or somewhere else?
