Cuyahoga County Sheriff's deputy involved in non-fatal shooting in downtown Cleveland: What we know

The incident occurred near Superior Avenue and East 26th Street. Cleveland EMS confirms a 15-year-old boy was taken from the scene to MetroHealth Medical Center.

CLEVELAND — Cuyahoga County officials have confirmed that sheriff's deputies were involved in a non-fatal shooting on Thursday night in Cleveland

According to officials, the incident happened at Superior Avenue and East 26th Street in downtown at around 10 p.m. 

Witnesses told 3News they saw officers chasing a white-colored SUV before the SUV crashed near the entrance and exit ramps to Interstate 90. Four to five people were observed running from police when witnesses reported hearing gunshots.

A spokesperson for Cuyahoga County says that the individual shot was treated at MeteoHealth. In addition, other suspects involved in the incident were taken into custody. 

Cleveland EMS previously told 3News that they transported a 15-year-old boy in serious condition to MetroHealth.

A Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Deputy was also medically evaluated at Lutheran Hospital and has since been released. The county says "deputies involved in this matter will be placed on administrative leave per protocol."

The Cleveland Division of Police will conduct the use of deadly force investigation.

The ordeal occurred as crowds were being let out from Progressive Field following the Guardians' American League Championship Series game against the New York Yankees.
