CLEVELAND — Electric scooters and bikes, have always been popular in Cleveland, especially this time of year.
Last weekend, Lime introduced their new e-bikes in downtown Cleveland after the city issued permits allowing the bikes earlier this year.
Currently, there are 50 of them in the city but more are expected to be added by Lime as well as from their competitors, Spin and Bird, soon.
Many downtown residents find them to be a solid option to make the city more accessible.
"Anything that helps downtown be more fun, more accessible. Allow people to get around from point a to point b, I think it's good," said Joey Fredrickson, downtown resident and board member of Downtown Cleveland Residents. He feels anyway to make transportation easier in Cleveland is a win for residents and visitors.
"It keeps downtown fun. Allows us to do more things," Fredrickson said. "It expands my ability to go anywhere as a downtown resident."
Despite push back on scooters as well as troubles by the pandemic, these shared mobility programs have been a success. There have been nearly 500,000 individual trips spanning more than 540,000 miles.
